During Milan Fashion Week in September 2004, the House of Lancetti presented their Spring 2005 collection.
It was full of mystic silhouettes with a psychedelic flare. Belted kimonos in silk gave an urban geisha girl theme. The clothes had a softness and fluidity to the body. The Lancetti print of light irridescent colours of aqua, peach and white looked great on hot pants, leggings and tops. 1970’s flares with pleats and shelling, loose fit and high wastye lines made this collection very relaxed and summery.
History of LANCETTI:
#PinoLancetti was born in Perugia, Italy in 1932. He studied at the Art Institute of Perugia.
In the 1950’s, he moved to Rome, where he sold sketches to designers such as Simonetta, Carosa, De Luca, Schuberth, Antonelli and the Fontana Sisters. He worked freelance for several companies, including Carosa. He opened his first workshop in 1954 in theVia Margutta.
He established his own label in 1961 and presented his first collection at the Pitti Palace in Florence. He concentrated on cut and colour, producing many sophisticated garments in silk and chiffon. His first big success came in 1963 with the military line, which made a radical change in the way women dressed.
Pino has always been inspired by artists and his collections reflect this, Kandinsky in 1973, and the Impressionists in 1977. In 1987 Pino Lancetti gave a most memorable collection dedicated to artist Picasso, which was presented at the French Academy at the Villa Medici. A dress from that collection is shown on the left.
